Intensive Remedial Reading

For children aged 6 to 16 who that are at least one year behind in reading achievement. Under the direction of a certified teacher, trained tutors work one-to-one using the Barton Reading & Spelling Program (based on the Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory reading & spelling method) to develop the student’s reading and spelling skills. The Barton Program is a researched and evidence based, Orton-Gillingham influenced, multi-sensory, systematic phonics program that allows children to improve their reading and spelling through explicit instruction about: phonics, common spelling patterns, and sound-symbol practice. Mastery is a requirement at each level of the Barton program before moving on to new information. Progress is monitored and reported regularly. Our reading specialists include dedicated and experienced Teachers, Early Childhood Educators, ELL teachers, and Resource Teachers.
