Real Reading Tutoring Program

Trained tutors work one to one with students to develop their reading, comprehension, writing, and spelling skills.  For children aged 7 to 14 that are at least one year behind in reading and/or writing achievement.  Tutoring is now available in Langley at Douglas Park Community School, 5409-206 Street and will continue in Surrey at Janice Churchill Elementary School, 8226-146 Street.   Call now to book an assessment for the spring program more info

Multi-Sensory Group Tutoring for Math

Multisensory Math with Manipulatives tm or Montessori Math offers remedial support to students in grades 2 to 7 who are struggling to understand the basic math concepts. Multi-Sensory Group Tutoring for Reading

A unique program for students aged 6 to 10 with severe reading difficulties (including Dyslexia) based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to remediating reading disabilities.  This program uses all the learning pathways to the brain (including visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile) simultaneously in order to enhance memory and learning. Maximum 4 per group. more info

Fast ForWord Reading Intervention Software

The Fast Forword program develops and strengthens memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing - the cognitive skills essential for reading intervention.  We also have the Reading series software which designed to improve reading comprehension.  Personalized feedback on progress to parents is provided by a Certified Speech Language Pathologist.

Kurzweil Software Training for Students

Kurzweil 3000 is the comprehensive reading, writing and learning software solution for any struggling reader.  This software is widely available in the Surrey School District.  This training will enable students to become proficient and then access it at their school.  (Maximum 4 per class)

Keyboarding Program

A unique one to one program that uses multi-sensory techniques to teach touch-typing skills to students aged 8 and up with written output difficulties. We use the “Typeright” method developed by the Eaton Coull Learning Group.

Steps to Success: Self-Advocacy Training for Youth

A program for students aged 11 to 16 with Learning Disabilities and/or Attention Deficit Disorder that teaches self-advocacy skills essential to success at school and in life. Students must understand their learning differences and be able to speak out and communicate their needs to teachers. This program teaches these important skills which give students a sense of self-awareness and confidence. (Maximum 6 per class)  more info

Summer Tutoring Programs

Any student aged 6 to 14 who is at least one year behind in reading, writing or math achievement is eligible for these programs. Recommended for children with normal intellectual abilities, but academic achievement scores lower then their expected ability. A child does not have to be diagnosed with LD or ADHD to attend these programs. Available in Surrey at the LDAFS Resource Centre and in Langley at the Langley School District office, 4875 - 222 Street.

Building Social Skills and Friendships

For youth between ages 9 and 15 with learning disabilities and/or ADD and related conditions.  Using Integrated Movement Therapytm , this program is intended to treat social and language deficts, anxiety, poor motor coordination, general self-esteem, and improve overall well-being.  more info

Transitions to Secondary School

A program designed to assist students entering grades 7 to 9 with learning disabilities and/or ADHD make a successful academic and social transition to secondary school. Topics covered include self-awareness, self-advocacy, note-taking and writing strategies, organization and study skills.  more info
